What is Zigbee?

Zigbee is a low-power, low-data-rate wireless mesh networking standard (IEEE 802.15.4) designed for personal area networks. It is one of the most popular protocols for smart home devices.

• Mesh networking: Mains-powered devices relay messages, extending range
• Low power: Battery-operated sensors can last years
• Frequency: Operates on 2.4 GHz (global), 868 MHz (EU), 915 MHz (US)
• Range: 10–20 m per hop, extended by the mesh
